Early Life and Education

English television personality, producer, and entrepreneur Simon Cowell was born on October 7, 1959, in Lambeth, London. He grew up in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Cowell's mother, Julie, was a ballet dancer and socialite, while his father, Eric, was a music producer and real estate developer. He has five siblings, four of whom are half-siblings.

Cowell attended Radlett Preparatory School and then Dover College. He went on to study sociology at Windsor Technical College but never pursued a career in the field.

Early Career

After various unsuccessful attempts at finding a career in different fields, Cowell's father arranged for him to work at EMI Music. Initially working in the mailroom, Cowell soon displayed a talent for producing.

Music Production
